Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your safari experience begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi into northern Kenya, transitioning from highland farms into dry, rugged wilderness landscapes. As you approach Samburu, the terrain opens into dramatic semi-arid plains shaped by the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Upon arrival, you experience your first taste of Samburu with a relaxed lunch at your lodge or tented camp set close to wildlife corridors. After settling in, you head out for your first afternoon game drive.
This first experience introduces you to elephants moving along the riverbanks, giraffes feeding on acacia trees, and predators beginning their evening movements across the plains. The sunset safari drive delivers golden light over dramatic landscapes before returning to your lodge for dinner under the stars.
Today is a full immersion into Samburu’s wild ecosystem. You spend the day following wildlife movement along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where animals naturally gather for water.
You experience close encounters with Samburu’s rare northern species including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the elegant gerenuk standing on its hind legs to feed. These unique sightings are exclusive to this region.
Predator experiences are also a highlight, with opportunities to track lions resting on rocky outcrops, leopards hidden in riverine forests, and cheetahs scanning open plains for prey.
A picnic lunch in the wild enhances the experience, allowing you to stay deep inside the reserve without interruption. As the sun sets, you enjoy another golden safari drive before returning to camp for dinner and storytelling around the fire.
After a sunrise game drive in Samburu, you experience the last moments of this rugged wilderness before heading south toward the Laikipia region.
The journey itself is part of the experience, as landscapes gradually shift from dry northern plains to greener highland foothills of Mount Kenya.
Upon arrival at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, you enter a very different safari environment — structured conservation land where wildlife protection is central. You experience your first afternoon game drive in search of the Big Five within a secure, well-managed ecosystem.
In the evening, you unwind at your lodge while learning about Ol Pejeta’s conservation mission, including rhino protection efforts and endangered species programs.
Today is dedicated to meaningful wildlife and conservation experiences. You begin with a morning game drive tracking rhinos, elephants, lions, and buffaloes across open plains with Mount Kenya in the background.
A major highlight is your visit to the Northern White Rhino sanctuary, where you come face-to-face with one of the world’s most critically endangered species, protected around the clock.
You also experience the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where rescued chimpanzees live in a safe, natural environment — a rare opportunity unique in Kenya.
Afternoon game drives continue with excellent chances of seeing predators and large herds moving across the conservancy. This day blends wildlife viewing with education, conservation awareness, and emotional connection to nature.
Your final morning begins with a relaxed game drive or guided bush experience depending on lodge arrangements. This is your last opportunity to enjoy Ol Pejeta’s peaceful wildlife setting.
After breakfast, you begin your journey back to Nairobi, passing through scenic farmlands and the foothills of Mount Kenya. A stop at the Equator line offers a final memorable photo experience.
You arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon, concluding a safari defined by rare wildlife, powerful conservation stories, and unforgettable African landscapes.
